First and foremost, the Winter Meetings weren’t exactly the most action-packed of meetings. Thank god for Jerry Dipoto!

Episode 88 of Foul Territory: A Baseball Podcast—the Albert Belle edition—is a Winter Meetings extravaganza that is even more exciting than the Winter Meetings itself! This week’s Headlines focus on the Mariners/Indians/Rays three-way trade that saw Carlos Santana, Edwin Encarnacion, Yandy Diaz and Jake Bauers going places, the Phillies signing Andrew McCutchen, the Yankees signing J.A. Happ, Billy Hamilton signing with the Royals, the ongoing rumors swirling around J.T. Realmuto, Bryce Harper having no chance in hell of going back to D.C. (maybe), Harper to the ChiSox rumors, Manny Machado looking good for Philly, Brian Cashman commenting about the Yankees being a “fully operational Death Star” (and our subsequent conversation about Stormtrooper Urine, which becomes a buzz phrase throughout the podcast), Kyler Murray winning the Heisman and then saying he’s all-in on his baseball career, Orioles naming Brandon Hyde as manager, Harold Baines (um, say what?) and Lee Smith gettin HOF nods, the Rays being reprimanded for a shoddy ballpark proposal in Ybor City (which means eight more years at the Trop!), Larry Doby getting a Senate honor, Sunday Night Baseball announcing it’s moving up one hour in 2019 and Jose Canseco throwing his hat in the ring as Trump’s next chief of staff.

This week’s Starting Nine is filled with holiday cheer as Jed names nine players with Christmas Movie names. Show ends with Extra Innings and a look outside the world of baseball, including ESPN announcing a return to highlights-driven SportsCenter broadcasts, Kendall Jenner being 2018’s highest paid model (thanks, Kim!), Kevin Hart stepping down from Oscar host after Twitter posts haunt him, Kanye West going full Kanye on Drake and the Russian Robot that wasn’t.
