hot stove actionFirst and foremost, can you feel the hot stove action? It’s getting hot in here!

Episode 87 of Foul Territory: A Baseball Podcast is so full of hot stove action we spend a majority of the show focused on—you guessed it: hot stove action! This week’s Headlines are all about the trades and signings currently in the books, including Paul Goldschmidt being traded to the Cardinals, the Mariners trading stars to the NL East (Robinson Cano and Edwin Diaz to the Mets, and Jean Segura to the Phillies), Patrick Corbin spurning the Yankees and signing a six-year deal with the Nationals (buh-bye Bryce!), Merrill Kelly returning from overseas and signing with the D-backs, the Dodgers finalizing their extension with Dave Roberts, Joe Maddon‘s son getting all lathered up that his WS-winning pops hasn’t got an extension yet and two-time WS loser Roberts did, Billy Hamilton and Jonathan Schoop betting non-tendered, the Padres talking a flyer on TJS-recovering Garrett Richards, Boston accepting the White House invite, Oakland showing off its new ballpark plans (finally!), and Portland setting its sights on landing a team by securing a waterfront site.

This week’s Starting Nine is in honor of the recently departed Hollywood scriptmeister William Goldman with nine players with William Goldman film names. The show wraps with Extra Innings and a look outside the world of baseball with Carbi B and Kylie Jenner musings, Natalie Portman and Jessica Simpson throwing down, the NHL coming to Seattle, USA Gymnastics filing for bankruptcy and the XFL coming back in 2020.
